I got a very low point it means I need to learn how to improve my memory strategies.

 MEMORY AND LEARNING

" Remembering is a hard work and memory techniques do not necessarily make it easy. They just make it more effective (Van Blerkom, 2000, p.93) "

UNDERSTANDING MEMORY PROCESS

WHAT IS MEMORY ?
The ability to remember past experiences, and the power of process of recalling to mind previously learned facts, experiences, impressions, skills and habits.

"HAVING A GOOD MEMORY" - involves both putting information into memory and getting it back out - both storage and retrieval.

{ SENSORY MEMORY }
          - if ONE PAY ATTENTION to the stimuli, it will go to the short-term memory (STM). if one does not pay attention then the memory will be lost.

Types of SM

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

{ SHORT-TERM MEMORY }

          - Immediate memory > ability to remember a small amount of information in a few seconds

                - Working memory > system for temporarily storing and managing the information required to carry out complex cognitive

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

{ LONG-TERM MEMORY }

           - unlimited & large storage
           - informative knowledge can be stored long periods of time

For the first time I only got newspaper, pencil, bus, book and pen then after I used the grouping I got newspaper, book, magazine, pencil, pen, bus, boat and train. The grouping helped me to remember faster because it is more organized.

MEMORY STRATEGIES

HOW FORGETTING COULD OCCUR?

        ` Didn't pay attention for the information
` Didn't understand the information
` Cramming (last minute study)
` Didn't have goood strategies
` Inteference
` Test anxiety

             INFOOO

HOW TO IMPROVE MEMORY???

1) Massed practice vs spaced practice

2) Break reading material down for some period time

3) Rehearsal-repeat the information many times

4) Eloboration strategies

^ associations
^ acronym/catchwords
^ acrostics/catchphrase
^ imagery
^ organizational strategies
^ comprehension monitoring strategies

In that test I kind of got a good result. That means my strategies to keep concentrate in studying very helpful !!!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

CAUSES OF POOR CONCENTRTION

$ lack of attention
$ lack of interest
$ lack of motivation
$ distraction from others
$ uncomfortable environment
$ physiological matters (tiredness,illness)
$ psycological matters (worries,anxieties)

Technically the way I note-taking is already good enough but I still need to improve my way in taking lecture notes so that it is more effective in studying.

  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

WHY WE TAKING NOTES???

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
